The Soroptimist Live Your Dream

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women provides women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families with the financial resources to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. Recipients can use the award for tuition, books, childcare, carfare, or any other education-related expense. Each year, over $2.8 million is provided in cash grants to women in need. Since the program’s inception in 1972, more than $40 million has helped tens of thousands of women achieve their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families—leading to stronger communities, nations, and the world.

Club Award is up to $2,500  / Application deadline 11/15/2025

Girl Scout Awareness Initiative

SI/CI is a supporting member of the STOP Trafficking Ventura County Committee. The Committee voted to support local Girl Scouts in their endeavors to earn merit badges by sponsoring an age appropriate educational awareness program about  human trafficking. The girls, some parents, troop leaders and staff listened attentively to the presentation by two members of law enforcement who stressed caution when using social media, a general overview of human trafficking, potential signs to watch for, and when to alert adults. They also took questions. The program was so well received that an encore was done three months later and an inquiry for a reprise this spring in Thousand Oaks has posted! SI/CI and the other supporting clubs were presented with the GS merit badges for our support.

Bold & Worthy Bags

Our Bold and Worthy Bags are slated for the newest residents at the Coalition for Family Harmony’s shelter. They have experienced domestic violence, are referred by law agencies and arrive with only the clothes they are wearing. The Bags are member-made and include tooth and hair brushes, lip gloss, lotion, socks, nail clippers, scented candles, pens and journals. As an on-going club project, the list is planned to expand as the need is crucial.
