Good & Welfare: Make a Tribute to SICI

Looking for a creative way to honor the women in your life? Say “Happy Birthday,” “Congratulations,” “Thank You,” or send your condolences by making a tribute to Soroptimist International of Channel Islands in the name of your friend, colleague, mother, daughter, sister, etc. An acknowledgement will be emailed to the person you choose to honor. Click here to make your tribute!

On July 2, the California Assembly Public Safety Committee voted to pass Senate Bill 1414, which makes it a felony to engage in buying a child for sex. HOWEVER, the bill fell short of all of our goals as it did not restore the previous iteration that would have prevented the penalty from being reduced to a misdemeanor and freed 16- and 17-year olds from having to prove that they were victims of human trafficking.


As the bill now moves to the Appropriations Committee, we need your help. Contact Governor Newsom NOW and encourage him to restore SB 1414 to its original form (call 916-445-2841)!
